The National Folk Museum of Korea recently completed a Korean culture training program for 50 members of the Youth Startup Volunteer Group, preparing them for overseas assignments. The program, organized in collaboration with KOICA and Global Civic Sharing, aims to equip young volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed for effective cultural exchange.
The training is part of a two-session program, with the first session held at the Traditional Culture Learning Center of the museum and the second scheduled for July. Volunteers learned about Korean daily life, food culture, and traditional games through expert lectures, exhibition tours, and interactive activities designed to enhance practical communication skills.
By combining hands-on experiences with guided learning, the program strengthens the volunteers’ ability to engage with local communities abroad. The initiative also supports public diplomacy, fostering international collaboration between Korea and countries such as Timor-Leste, Laos, and Vietnam.

The Youth Startup Volunteer Group project, promoted by KOICA and Global Civic Sharing, will run from 2025 to 2027. Volunteers will contribute in sectors including education, tourism, and special education, applying the skills gained during the training to real-world community programs.
The museum sees this program as an opportunity to expand its international cooperation network and reinforce its role as a hub for cultural education and global public diplomacy. Through initiatives like this, young volunteers gain practical experience, cross-cultural understanding, and skills that enhance their employability in international education and cultural exchange roles.
