Former Liberian international footballer and youth development specialist Albert Stages Kamara has officially launched his fifth elite sports academy, Power Sports International Academy (PSIA), in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.
At 43, Kamara has spent recent years quietly expanding his vision across Asia. Rather than seeking personal publicity, he has concentrated on building sustainable grassroots programmes that combine athletic excellence with education and character development. The new academy in Miri continues that mission.
Kamara first built his reputation through Power Soccer Academy in Myanmar. He later expanded the organisation into Power Sports International Academy, an international youth development brand now operating in multiple countries. The academies have trained thousands of young athletes and created structured pathways into professional football, higher education, and personal growth.
Before opening the Malaysian branch, Kamara served as Assistant Sports and Activities Coordinator at the International School Yangon. In that role he helped develop school sports programmes and refined the coaching philosophy that now guides PSIA.
A qualified sports professional, Kamara holds a UEFA B Coaching Licence issued by the German Football Association (DFB). He also holds additional qualifications in sports coaching, youth development, and sports administration. His approach emphasises technical skill, discipline, leadership, and academic progress so that athletes develop both on and off the field.
The PSIA Miri academy offers structured training in football and other sports while promoting values such as teamwork, discipline, respect, leadership, and academic excellence. It forms part of Kamara’s longer-term goal of creating world-class youth development programmes throughout Southeast Asia.
Reflecting on the journey that began nearly two decades earlier, Kamara said: “I had a dream 18 years ago, and today I am living that dream. Nothing makes me happier than seeing young players progress into professional football and educational opportunities. This mission is bigger than me. I truly believe this is what I was called to do, and I will continue dedicating my life to helping young people achieve their full potential through sport".

In addition to leading PSIA, Kamara currently serves as Technical Director of Indera SC, a professional football club in Brunei Darussalam, where he also holds a 40 percent ownership stake. In that role he oversees technical development, the youth structure, coaching standards, and the club’s long-term football strategy.
Looking ahead, Kamara aims to strengthen football connections between Africa and Asia. One of his key objectives is to create professional opportunities for talented Liberian players by offering international exposure, elite training environments, and pathways into clubs across Southeast Asia and beyond.
With the opening of PSIA Miri, Kamara continues to demonstrate a clear commitment to transforming lives through sport. His vision extends beyond producing skilled athletes. It centres on developing responsible young leaders, expanding educational opportunities, and building a lasting legacy for future generations.
The launch marks another step in a career dedicated to giving young people structured support both on the pitch and in the classroom.
