- Delegates from 10 Taiwanese universities visited New Delhi to explore collaborations with Indian universities for dual degrees, internships, and exchange programs.
- Opportunities were highlighted for Indian students in AI, sustainability, semiconductors, medicine, and STEM, with scholarships and English-taught courses available.
- Taiwan currently hosts around 1,495 Indian degree students (mostly PhDs) and 1,029 non-degree students, with engineering, chemistry, and business administration being the most popular fields.
Delegates of 10 Taiwanese universities were in New Delhi this week to discuss collaborations with Indian universities for dual degree and internship opportunities. They also propagated the scope for Indian students, including exchange courses in sustainability, AI, and semiconductors, and degree course scholarships.
Representatives of Taiwanese universities such as National Tsing Hua University, National Kaohsiung Normal University, China Medical University, National Formosa University, Shih Chien University, and Tamkang University were some of those present in India.
The universities are both public and private ones that offer courses on technology, STEM and allied research, semiconductors, medicine and life science, and business administration. Taiwan boasts more than 200 English-taught programs, with assistance for those wanting to learn Mandarin as a beginner.

As per statistics made public by Taiwan's Ministry of Education, approximately 1,495 Indian students, out of more than 47,600 foreign students, were studying for a degree in Taiwan in 2025, compared to 649 a decade ago. Out of the 1,500-some Indian students, 963 students were studying for a PhD, followed by approximately 445 students studying for a master's degree.
Also, approximately 1,029 non-degree Indian students were present in Taiwan in 2025, compared to 359 a decade ago. The most sought-after course in Taiwan by students from India is engineering and courses related to it, which received 665 Indian students in 2025.
This was followed by Chemistry and Physical Sciences with 201 Indian students, and Business Administration with 128 Indian students.National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, are the two topmost universities in Taiwan when it comes to Indian students' enrolment. In both the universities, Indian students are mostly enrolled on PhD courses, followed by master's courses.
