ADEK, Aldar Open New Pathways for UAE Teaching Talent

  • Synopsis

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Aldar Education have partnered to expand career opportunities for UAE Nationals in education. The initiative will focus on teacher training, skill development, and recruitment, with plans to hire more than 300 Emiratis across schools.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Aldar Education have launched a new partnership aimed at strengthening Emiratisation in the education sector. The initiative will focus on creating more jobs, expanding teacher training, and building long-term career pathways for UAE Nationals.

Under the agreement, Aldar Education plans to recruit more than 300 UAE Nationals across its operated schools. The hiring target also includes over 100 Emirati teachers who are entering the education sector for the first time.

The partnership marks an important step for the UAE education sector because it is the first agreement of its kind between ADEK and a private education provider. The initiative is expected to create a structured roadmap that develops teaching talent at a larger scale while supporting national workforce goals.

Aldar Education will take responsibility for recruitment, deployment, and career development opportunities for UAE Nationals within its schools. ADEK, on the other hand, will support the process by building pathways that prepare candidates through training and teacher development programs.

The collaboration follows ADEK's recently introduced teacher talent strategy, which places teachers at the center of educational quality and student success. The approach focuses on improving professional standards, supporting existing educators, and attracting skilled individuals into classrooms across Abu Dhabi.

A key part of the initiative is the Kon Moallim program, a postgraduate diploma in education developed in collaboration with Emirates College for Advanced Education. The program aims to prepare UAE Nationals with the skills, practical knowledge, and confidence required to build successful careers as educators.

Mohamed Taj Eddine Ahmed Alqadi, Chairman of ADEK, highlighted the importance of investing in local teaching talent. "Teachers are the single most important factor in achieving educational excellence, and developing a strong national teaching workforce remains central to Abu Dhabi’s long-term education priorities".

He added that the partnership shows how public and private sector collaboration can turn national talent goals into real opportunities by creating clear paths from training to employment. The initiative also aligns with broader education goals in the UAE. Aldar Education will work toward ensuring that all Social Studies teaching roles across its schools are filled by Emirati educators over the next three years.

Beyond Social Studies, the program will also focus on other high-demand areas, including Ministry of Education subjects, Special Educational Needs (SEN), Foundation Stage education, and kindergarten classrooms.  Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Aldar and Aldar Education, said the partnership reflects a larger national mission. He sais, "Emiratisation is a nation-building imperative, and one that Aldar is committed to advancing across every dimension of our business".

Apart from teaching roles, the partnership will also create early-career opportunities. Aldar Education plans to provide up to 30 internship positions every year along with up to 40 classroom assistant roles annually. These opportunities are expected to help young UAE Nationals gain practical experience and build skills before entering full-time positions. To ensure progress, both organizations will create a joint steering committee that will monitor hiring, retention, and career development efforts.

The initiative highlights the UAE's growing focus on creating a skilled local workforce while building an education system that can support future generations and a knowledge-driven economy.
