Afghan Broadcast Station Introduces Learning Programme For Students

    • Afghanistan’s Radio Mahal launched ‘Voice of School’ to deliver education via radio to children in remote and underserved regions.
    • The initiative aims to reach nearly 2,000 students across Logar, Wardag Square, Paktia, and areas around Kabul with lessons in Quran, Pashto, Dari, and English.
    • Government officials, religious leaders, and community elders endorsed the project, highlighting radio as a low-cost, accessible tool for inclusive education.

Radio Mahal, a privately-owned radio in Afghanistan’s Logar province, has started a new project called ‘Voice of School’, which targets improving educational access for children in distant regions where educational opportunities are not readily available. The project was launched during a facilitated event organized by Radio Mahal, where representatives from the government, religious leaders, elderly people, and youngsters were in attendance.

The project highlights a growing need for radio programs to be used in providing educational opportunities for students in regions where educational systems and technology do not exist. While speaking during the event, Radio Mahal’s head, Khan Wali Ahmadzai, stated, "Radio Mahal’s 'Voice of School' project is supposed to reach nearly 2,000 students in Logar province, Wardag Square, Paktia, and different districts in and around Kabul city".

As stated, this initiative aims to support students in far-off cities, districts, and villages in Afghanistan where students have difficulty getting class instruction. Students will gain knowledge of the Holy Quran and languages such as Pashto, Dari, and English via radio sessions conducted at fixed times.

Ahmadzai explained that radio technology is among the most readily available and less expensive methods of providing education in Afghanistan. Through the use of radio waves instead of classroom or online learning infrastructure, students can access learning regardless of their geographical, financial, and accessibility barriers. Ahmadzai added that this project aims to establish an organized learning platform for students who do not have continuity with education otherwise.

Molvi Faizullah Johari in his address thanked Radio Mahal for this initiative.

He noted radio’s significance in providing education through an affordable, accessible, and timely way where both men and women can gain education without stepping out of their homes. Mufti Wahidullah Wahaj appreciated Radio Mahal for bringing in a country-wide educational innovation, in his words. He appealed to international bodies and government authorities to provide support so that this initiative can be continued and more students can be benefited across the country.

As per him, these kinds of programs can prove very helpful in empowering education, illiteracy, and awareness. In closing, Ahmadzai thanked the Directorate of Information and Culture in Logar province, Islamic scholars, tribal elders, and youth for their support and cooperation. Radio Mahal's commitment to providing educational programs for Afghan society remains unchanged.
