American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has achieved a significant global milestone by becoming the first Asian university to be featured in the prestigious Spotlight segment of the Responsible Futures International (RFI) 2024/25 program. This initiative is jointly organized by the International Association of Universities (IAU) and Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK) to highlight institutions embedding sustainability, climate justice, and ethical leadership at the heart of higher education.
AIUB was recognised for its impactful efforts in community engagement and social responsibility, particularly through the initiatives of the AIUB Social Welfare Club Shomoy (ASC). Established in 2009 under the guidance of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Shomoy has led numerous humanitarian activities across Bangladesh.
Key initiatives showcased include the annual 'Oder Eid, Amader Khushi' campaign that provides food, clothes, and joy to underprivileged children during Eid; winter clothing drives for vulnerable communities; emergency relief efforts during natural disasters; and awareness programs on hygiene, mental health, and environmental care.
