AWS Expands AI and Cloud Skills Program Across Thailand

  • Synopsis

AWS and Thammasat University are expanding the AWS ThaksaAI initiative across Thailand to provide AI, generative AI, and cloud computing skills to students and teachers nationwide.

Amazon Web Services and Thammasat University Research and Consultancy Institute have announced the next phase of the AWS ThaksaAI Project, expanding AI and cloud computing education to more students, teachers, and educational institutions across Thailand. The initiative, launched in 2024, aims to strengthen digital skills development and prepare Thailand’s future workforce for jobs in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and emerging technologies.

The latest expansion was announced during a signing ceremony held at the AWS office in Bangkok, where partner institutions signed a memorandum of understanding to support nationwide AI and cloud learning programs. The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, AWS executives, educators, and project leaders.

Since its launch, the AWS ThaksaAI Project has trained more than 23,000 students and nearly 1,000 teacher trainers across 400 schools in Thailand. The initiative now covers learners in 76 provinces, including communities with limited access to advanced digital education.

Students and teachers participating in the program receive practical training using platforms such as AWS Skill Builder and AWS PartyRock. These tools allow learners to explore cloud computing and generative AI while building applications without requiring advanced coding knowledge.

The initiative focuses strongly on future-ready skills that are increasingly becoming important across industries, including AI application development, digital problem-solving, and cloud infrastructure management. One of the student projects recognized during the event was EduProblem Generator, an AI-powered educational web application created by students from Khlung Ratchadaphisek School in Chanthaburi Province.

The platform was developed using AWS PartyRock by students Piriya Sukmongcolrat and Pittayarat Raksanit under the guidance of teacher advisor Natdanai Sawangsuk. The application helps high school students prepare for Thailand’s TCAS university admissions process by generating personalized practice questions based on subject areas, difficulty levels, and learning needs. The project demonstrated how generative AI can improve access to educational support and help students strengthen their academic preparation.

Mr. Vatsun Thirapatarapong, Country Manager for Thailand at Amazon Web Services, said the initiative reflects AWS’s commitment to expanding access to future technology skills. “We believe every learner deserves access to the skills that will define their future”, he said. “In just two years, this initiative has reached more than 23,000 students and close to 1,000 teachers across 76 provinces in Thailand, many in communities that previously had limited exposure to cloud or AI training”. He added that providing practical tools and reducing barriers can help learners create meaningful solutions for real-world challenges.

Assistant Professor Dr. Suthikorn Kingkaew, project director, said the initiative has shown that AI and cloud computing are becoming more accessible to Thai learners. “With the right tools, teachers and students can learn, experiment, and create meaningful innovations”, he said. Officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society also highlighted the importance of AI-ready talent for Thailand’s future economy.

Ms. Chomparee Chompurat, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the ministry, said developing AI and cloud computing capabilities among young learners will play a major role in strengthening Thailand’s digital economy and workforce competitiveness. As demand for AI and cloud-related jobs continues to rise globally, the expanded AWS ThaksaAI program is expected to create stronger career pathways for Thai students entering the technology sector.
