Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and Deputy Prime Minister, has this morning met with Stephen Morgan, UK Early Childhood Education Minister, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Digital Education Conference in China.
In this meeting, Cambodia and the UK discussed different facets of improving cooperation in the education sector for both nations. The areas of cooperation include professional training and higher education, which involve scholarships and establishing a favorable environment for Cambodian students to pursue studies in the UK, and establishing exchange programs for professors and students and opening British universities in Cambodia, the ministry said.
Moreover, emphasis has been put into developing general education through the endorsement of English curricula implementation, like the introduction of the Cambridge programme into Cambodian general education curriculum, along with the foundation of general education schools and development of the sector of education.
The other important area is the application of AI and digital technologies to teaching and learning, which highlights the building up of teachers' and students' capability to appropriately use AI for learning in the context of the smart age and sustainable development.
Last but not least, there will be mutual exchange of experience, knowledge, and best practice between education policymakers of the two countries. England and Cambodia are finding ways of how to promote more cooperation between the two nations in the educational sphere.
