Cheung Kong Graduate School Of Business Opens First Beijing Campus

  • Synopsis
Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business has opened its first Beijing campus, marking a major expansion of its executive education footprint in China. The move aims to strengthen access to management training, deepen industry engagement in the capital, and enhance the school’s national and global academic influence.

The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) has officially inaugurated its first permanent campus in Beijing, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s 23-year journey of shaping global business leaders through advanced business education, executive leadership training, and research-driven academic excellence. The opening of the new campus represents not only a physical expansion but also a symbolic step forward in CKGSB’s mission to connect China’s economic evolution with the global business landscape.

Situated in Beijing’s historic Ciqikou area, often referred to as 'China’s Gateway', the campus occupies a unique location that reflects both tradition and modernity. On one side, it is framed by iconic cultural landmarks such as the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, representing centuries of Chinese civilization and heritage. On the other side, it is surrounded by Beijing’s Central Business District, a powerful symbol of rapid economic growth, innovation, and global integration. This strategic positioning underscores CKGSB’s identity as a bridge between China’s rich historical legacy and its forward-looking ambitions in global management education and international business leadership.

Founded in 2002 following China’s entry into the World Trade Organization, CKGSB has played a pivotal role in advancing management education in China, focusing on cultivating leaders who can navigate complex global markets. Over the past two decades, the school has built a strong reputation for integrating academic research with real-world business practice, helping executives and entrepreneurs better understand China’s evolving role in the global economy.

The newly opened 30,000-square-meter campus has been designed with symbolic architecture that reflects the school’s vision. Its façade resembles a vessel setting sail, representing CKGSB’s commitment to guiding leaders through uncertainty and change while exploring new opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world. At the heart of the campus is a 17-meter-high atrium inspired by the ancient Greek Agora, envisioned as a vibrant intellectual hub where faculty, students, alumni, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and researchers come together to exchange ideas and transform knowledge into actionable insights.

As China’s first privately funded, research-oriented business school, CKGSB emphasizes the development of decision-makers who possess global awareness, innovative thinking, and strong social responsibility. The school’s alumni network of 25,000 graduates includes a powerful community of business leaders, with approximately 95% of alumni serving in leadership roles across major organizations. Collectively, they oversee a significant portion of China’s most valuable brands, highlighting the institution’s profound influence on corporate leadership development and executive education programs.

The opening of the Beijing campus was also marked by the arrival of 275 new students in the Spring 2026 Executive MBA cohort. These students represent some of the most influential figures in Chinese business, with 75% serving as chairpersons or chief executive officers. Many of them lead high-tech enterprises, emerging market leaders, and niche industry 'hidden champions', with several overseeing unicorn companies valued at over one billion dollars. Their presence reinforces CKGSB’s position as a premier destination for Executive MBA education, innovation-driven leadership training, and high-level professional development.

Looking ahead, CKGSB plans to utilize its new Beijing campus as a global platform for dialogue and research. The institution will host a series of lectures, academic forums, and conferences focused on critical topics such as artificial intelligence, innovation ecosystems, leadership transformation, China’s economic outlook, and the future of global business. These initiatives aim to deepen understanding of emerging trends while fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers.

With its new permanent home in Beijing, the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) is reinforcing its commitment to shaping the next generation of global leaders. The campus stands as a powerful symbol of how higher education institutions in China are evolving to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world, blending tradition with innovation and local insight with global perspective.
