Chung-Ang University Brings AACSB Summit to Korea for the First Time

    • Chung‑Ang University hosts AACSB’s International Business School Development Council conference for the first time in Korea, drawing 500+ global delegates to Seoul.
    • The event featured high-level keynotes, workshops, and panels, spotlighting innovation, international standards, and strategic leadership in global management education.
    • Dean Kim Chang-bong reaffirms Chung‑Ang’s ambition to become a hub for Asia-Pacific business education, advancing globalized “K-management” and AACSB-aligned excellence.

Chung‑Ang University's School of Business and Economics, led by Chairman Kim Chang‑bong, has co‑hosted the elite International Business School Development Council conference hosted by AACSB for the first time in Korea, attracting this highly renowned event to the country. Over five days from June 23 to 27, the conference took place across the university campus and the JW Marriott Hotel, providing a strong mix of opening ceremonies, specialist seminars, cultural performances, and networking receptions.

The highlight of the event was the June 25 opening ceremony at Chung‑Ang University, where over 500 domestic and foreign delegates were in attendance. Some of the notable participants included Chung‑Ang University President Park Sang‑kyu, AACSB Senior Vice President Jeff Perry, and Doosan Hancom Vice Chairman Park Tae‑won, not to mention Chairman Kim himself. Their presence in numbers served to highlight the importance of the conference and the quality of leadership present.

Formed in 1916, AACSB is the gold-standard accrediting agency in business education, a status shared by fewer than 5 percent of the world's nearly 16,000 business schools ([news.cau.ac.kr][1], [aacsb.edu][2]). Chung‑Ang University, whose School of Business and Economics is Korea's largest and most historic, boasts this select AACSB accreditation and now makes an even bigger stride forward by hosting the Asia‑Pacific Accreditation Conference in Seoul.

Throughout the duration of the conference, participants were part of rich programming such as workshops, panel sessions, and networking forums focused on ensuring ongoing improvement in management education, increasing innovation, and being at par with international standards for teaching and learning outcomes. A highlight was the keynote address by Doosan Hancom's Park Tae‑won, which reflected on strategic leadership and transformation during the company's century-plus journey, demonstrating the quality of discussion at the event.

Dean Kim Chang-bong, host of the event, was very optimistic about the future of Chung-Ang University. Emphasizing the institution's legacy as a giant in Korean business education, he voiced a strong hope that it could grow into a management education hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference again reiterates the school's resolve to internationalize business education and strengthen global research networks.

In its wake, Chung-Ang University's School of Business and Economics will further solidify its commitment to globalized 'K-management' education. Through the promotion of more rigorous curriculum development, building cross-border collaboration, and reaffirming its accreditation standing through activities such as this, the institution will be better positioned to solidify its position as a beacon in structuring the region's future business education landscape.
