In a move that promises to strengthen international academic collaboration, Dibrugarh University has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with REAL ENTO, the Research and Extension on Applied Life Sciences of Entomology at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. The agreement, signed on March 6, forms part of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM USHA), the Indian government’s flagship initiative aimed at transforming higher education institutions into globally recognized centers of learning.
The signing ceremony, hosted at the REAL ENTO premises, brought together senior faculty, researchers, and research scholars from both institutions. Representing Dibrugarh University, Prof. Dipsikha Bora led the delegation, while the Thai side included Prof. Theeraphap, director of REAL ENTO, along with faculty members Dr Chris Daeyun Kim, Dr Ratchadawan Ngoen Klan, and Dr Amonrat Panthawong. Members of Kasetsart University’s Research and Lifelong Learning Centre were also present, highlighting the importance both universities place on fostering collaborative academic partnerships.
The MoU is expected to pave the way for extensive joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programs, collaborative academic courses, and scientific cooperation, with a particular focus on life sciences and entomology. By facilitating such interactions, both institutions aim to provide students and researchers with exposure to cutting-edge research facilities and innovative scientific methodologies.

Expressing his excitement about the partnership, Dibrugarh University’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, described the MoU as a landmark step toward internationalizing higher education at the university. He emphasized that the PM USHA program provides an important platform for building meaningful global collaborations that enhance the academic experience for both students and faculty. According to him, initiatives like this not only broaden academic horizons but also strengthen research capabilities and create avenues for knowledge exchange across borders.
Prof. Dipsikha Bora, who led the delegation to Bangkok, underscored the significance of the collaboration. She highlighted that working with REAL ENTO would provide Dibrugarh University’s research scholars access to world-class facilities and expertise, particularly in applied life sciences. “This partnership is timely and forward-looking and we are eager to cultivate a dynamic, sustained relationship with our Thai colleagues that benefits both our institutions and contributes to scientific advancement”, she noted.
