Gordonstoun Japan Launches With Leadership Summer Program

    • Gordonstoun Japan launches Impact Challenge Summer 2026 ahead of its first boarding campus in Osaka
    • Program, inspired by Gordonstoun School, blends leadership, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving for students aged 10-14
    • Initiative features global projects and is backed by figures like Linda Cruse, with full campus opening planned for 2027

Gordonstoun Japan has announced the launch of the Impact Challenge Summer 2026, a milestone initiative that signals the creation of its first international boarding school campus in partnership with OCC Educational Corporation Limited in Osaka. Known globally for its legacy of educating members of the British Royal Family, including King Charles III and Prince Philip, the historic Gordonstoun School is now extending its distinctive education philosophy beyond the UK.

While the permanent campus in Wakayama is set to open in 2027, the upcoming summer program will serve as an early introduction to the school’s approach, blending academic learning, leadership development, and real-world problem-solving. Rooted in the motto 'Plus est en vous', meaning 'There is more in you', the program is designed to push students beyond traditional classroom boundaries and into meaningful engagement with global challenges.

Scheduled across two sessions in August 2026, the program will welcome students aged 10 to 14 to Wakayama, Japan. Participants will take part in immersive experiences focused on global education, environmental sustainability, and humanitarian leadership. Activities include developing solutions for economic resilience in Himalayan communities, addressing marine plastic pollution around Tomogashima Island, and, for a select group, traveling to Nepal to witness real-world implementation.

The program has been designed by internationally recognized humanitarian Linda Cruse, now serving as Director of Co-Curricular at Gordonstoun Japan, who brings her vision of student-led change into the initiative. Founding Principal Natasha Dangerfield emphasized that this expansion represents a reimagining of education, one that prioritizes global awareness, resilience, and a strong sense of service.

By introducing this innovative education model in Japan, Gordonstoun is not only expanding its global presence but also redefining how young learners engage with the world, preparing them to become thoughtful and proactive global citizens.
