Indonesia Expands Skilled Workforce Through Industrial Training

    • The program delivered job-ready industrial skills under Indonesia’s national industrial development strategy.
    • Training emphasized vocational education, competency certification, and advanced Industry 4.0 skills aligned with industry needs.
    • Internship opportunities and entrepreneurship programs helped prepare youth for employment and supported new industrial businesses.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has trained 7,691 skilled industrial workers in 2025 as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s workforce and support long-term industrial growth. The initiative aligns with Asta Cita, Indonesia’s national development vision, and the New National Industrialization Strategy.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said skilled and competitive human resources are essential to accelerate industrial development. He noted that national priorities such as industrialization, sustainable downstream industries, digital transformation, and technology innovation depend on a capable workforce.

The results were delivered through programs led by the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI). These programs include industrial vocational education, technical training, and the development of Industry 4.0 skills to meet changing industry needs.

To improve career readiness, BPSDMI partnered with 48 Professional Certification Bodies to provide competency certification to 190 industrial workers. The agency also continues to update national competency standards and qualification frameworks to ensure workers’ skills stay aligned with market demand.

Kemenperin is also encouraging entrepreneurship through its Industrial Training Center Business Incubator program. In 2025, the program supported 27 new industrial entrepreneurs across different sectors. These startups generated a combined turnover of Rp8.6 billion, showing strong early business impact.

To prepare young talent for the workforce, the ministry expanded its National Internship Program. In its third phase, Kemenperin offered 635 internship positions across 54 work units. The program received strong interest, with more than 13,000 applicants.

Internal skill development also remained a priority. During the year, Kemenperin trained 1,178 civil servants through 35 programs to build a professional, adaptive, and service-oriented public workforce.

Through these efforts, Kemenperin aims to build job-ready skills, support industrial careers, and strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global manufacturing sector.
