- Indonesia and Harvard Medical School deepen education partnership
- Collaboration will focus on research, skills, and healthcare training
- Initiative aims to strengthen future medical talent development
Indonesia is strengthening its medical education ecosystem through a new partnership with Harvard Medical School, with a strong focus on skills development, research collaboration, and healthcare workforce training.
The partnership was highlighted during a meeting held in Jakarta on Thursday between officials from Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and representatives from Harvard Medical School.
Indonesia’s Higher Education Minister Brian Yuliarto welcomed the collaboration and said it opens new opportunities for academic growth and long-term capacity building. He said the partnership is expected to create joint programs that include academic exchanges, faculty development, research partnerships, and practical learning opportunities that can directly benefit communities.
The collaboration will place strong emphasis on tropical disease research and the improvement of primary healthcare services, areas where Indonesia offers significant research potential. Yuliarto also stressed that international partnerships are essential for building an education and research system that remains aligned with public needs and future healthcare challenges.
Harvard Medical School’s Dean for Research Initiatives and Global Programs, David Golan, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting Indonesian students, researchers, and educators through exchange and training programs.

The initiative is expected to enhance career pathways, build stronger healthcare expertise, and prepare Indonesia’s future medical workforce with globally relevant knowledge and skills.
