The Indonesian government has announced 5,750 scholarships under the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) for 2026, aiming to enhance the quality of human resources and provide broader access to higher education.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto said the scholarships are a strategic tool to make Indonesian youth competitive on the global stage. Speaking at a dialogue with President Prabowo Subianto and academicians at the State Palace, he highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting students at every step of their educational journey.
This year, LPDP will offer 1,000 scholarships for bachelor’s degrees (S1), 4,000 for master’s and doctoral programs (S2 and S3), and 750 for medical specialist education. The S2 and S3 scholarships will focus on fields aligned with Indonesia’s national development agenda, supporting Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision.
Indonesia produces around 1.7 million graduates annually across science, technology, and social sciences. The LPDP program aims to transform this talent into a strategic national asset, equipping students with skills for future careers and global opportunities.

In addition, the government continues to strengthen access to higher education through the Smart Indonesia Card for College (KIP-K), currently assisting over 1.1 million students with tuition fees and living expenses, backed by a state budget of Rp16 trillion annually.
With these initiatives, officials hope no Indonesian student will be denied higher education due to financial constraints, fostering a skilled and capable workforce ready to meet national and global demands.
