Seeking to address persistent challenges in Korean language learning, Satyanshu (사티안슈) Srivastava, PhD, Professor of Korean at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), has introduced two innovative GPT-based learning agents designed to provide learners with deeper grammatical clarity and consistent support beyond the classroom. Drawing on his experience as a teacher and his academic background at Seoul National University, Kyung Hee University, and Chung-Ang University, Srivastava developed the initiative to make technology a meaningful ally in language education.
Reflecting on his years of teaching, he identified two major challenges faced by students. First, many learners struggle with understanding subtle differences in Korean grammar, especially when similar structures have nuanced contextual meanings. Second, growing class sizes and limited instructional time often make it difficult to provide regular, individualized feedback, leaving students without the guidance they need to refine their writing and language use.

To address these gaps, Srivastava launched KoreanFix, a GPT-powered tool that delivers instant sentence-level corrections with clear explanations, enabling students to identify and learn from their mistakes in real time. Complementing this is K-GrammarPro, focused specifically on breaking down complex grammar rules into simple, structured, and learner-friendly explanations. Together, the tools aim to make Korean grammar instruction more accessible and less intimidating, while offering a free, supplementary resource that extends learning beyond the classroom.
Srivastava emphasized that these tools are not intended to replace teachers but to serve as practical academic companions, helping learners revise grammar, check sentences, and reinforce understanding at their own pace. He framed the initiative within the broader rise of AI in education, stressing the importance of integrating technology thoughtfully to enhance learning outcomes.
With the popularity of Korean language courses in India on the rise, the launch of KoreanFix and K-GrammarPro represents a significant step toward building a more supportive, AI-enabled learning ecosystem.
