Leifras Partners HR Produce to Expand Preschool Sports in Japan

  • LEIFRAS Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: LFS), a leading Japanese sports and social business company focused on youth development and community engagement, today announced a significant outsourcing agreement signed in June 2026 with HR Produce Co., Ltd., a prominent human resources and organizational consulting firm specializing in the childcare sector.

The partnership aims to accelerate Leifras’ expansion into Japan’s competitive preschool market by leveraging HR Produce’s extensive network of over 3,000 corporate entities and more than 10,000 childcare facilities nationwide.

This collaboration marks a strategic milestone for Leifras, which has established itself as one of Japan’s largest operators of children’s sports schools in terms of membership and facilities, according to Tokyo Shoko Research data as of December 31, 2025. By integrating its proprietary non-cognitive skill assessment system, Milabo, and on-site sports programs, Leifras seeks to address critical challenges in the childcare industry while creating new revenue streams through business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) models.

Japan’s childcare sector faces persistent structural issues, including high employee turnover rates, escalating recruitment costs, and intensifying competition driven by a declining birthrate. Facilities are under pressure to differentiate themselves and enhance brand value to attract both talent and parents. The alliance between Leifras and HR Produce combines sports-based non-cognitive education expertise with advanced organizational consulting to drive human capital optimization and operational improvements.

Under the agreement, HR Produce will actively promote Leifras’ sports school services and Milabo measurement platform to its partner corporations and daycare centers. This information-sharing initiative is expected to facilitate widespread adoption of Leifras’ offerings, enabling childcare providers to integrate innovative programs directly into their existing operations.

Central to the partnership is Milabo, Leifras’ Education X Technology platform that quantifies children’s non-cognitive life skills including leadership, cooperation, manners, and resilience drawing on data analytics from more than 200,000 child profiles. The system delivers intuitive radar-chart visualizations of individual and group developmental progress, empowering nursery teachers to engage parents with objective, data-backed insights.

This capability significantly reduces the communication burden on staff, potentially improving workplace satisfaction and staff retention. For childcare facilities, adopting Milabo enhances brand equity by positioning them as forward-thinking institutions committed to holistic child development through data-driven methods. Parents benefit from transparent progress reports that foster greater trust and encourage organic word-of-mouth referrals.

Complementing the assessment tool, Leifras plans to deploy professional coaches to establish tailored 'Leifras Sports Schools' within nursery premises. These programs require minimal space as little as half a basketball court and can utilize existing yards, halls, or classrooms. Facilities can choose from 13 specialized sports offerings, including soccer, basketball, dance, karate, and the flagship 'JJMIX' multi-sport program designed specifically for preschool-aged children.

The on-site model addresses a growing pain point for dual-income families: the logistical challenge of transporting children to extracurricular activities. By bringing structured athletic instruction directly to childcare centers, children can participate alongside familiar peers during or after regular hours, eliminating additional scheduling burdens for parents while promoting physical fitness and social skills in a safe, familiar environment.

Leifras’ teaching philosophy acknowledge, praise, encourage, and motivate, underpins all programs, emphasizing the development of both physical and mental attributes. This holistic approach aligns with the company’s broader social business initiatives, which dispatch coaches to support community needs across diverse demographics.

Mr. Kimitaka Kitamura, Representative Director of HR Produce, noted the alignment of values, “Our network has long sought solutions that genuinely support frontline staff and elevate childcare quality. Leifras’ data-driven tools and on-site programs offer practical answers to retention, recruitment, and differentiation challenges".

A spokesperson for Leifras added, “This partnership represents a natural extension of our mission to nurture ‘Fitness for the Mind and Heart’ from early childhood. By collaborating with HR Produce, we can scale our impact while helping childcare operators build sustainable, high-quality services".

The alliance is poised to strengthen Leifras’ presence in the strategically vital preschool segment, contributing to diversified revenue growth and long-term corporate objectives. As Japan grapples with demographic shifts, such innovative public-private collaborations could play a pivotal role in building a more resilient early childhood education ecosystem.

Industry observers anticipate that the rollout will not only expand Leifras’ footprint but also set new benchmarks for integrating sports education and technology in childcare settings. With HR Produce’s backing from growth capital co-managed by WM Partners and the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ), and its certification as an 'Excellent Employment Agency' by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the partnership carries strong credibility.

Looking ahead, Leifras aims to further develop integrated solutions that support childcare providers holistically. The company continues to innovate in youth sports and community programs, maintaining its commitment to social impact alongside business growth.

This outsourcing agreement underscores a growing trend of cross-sector alliances in Japan’s education and childcare landscape, where specialized expertise is leveraged to tackle systemic challenges. For Leifras, the move reinforces its position as a pioneer in non-cognitive skill development through sports, promising enhanced value for children, parents, educators, and investors alike.
