Mantra Health, a digital mental health provider for higher education, has launched Beacon, an early alert and intelligence platform designed to improve student well-being, persistence, and academic success. The platform aims to help colleges and universities support students proactively while strengthening retention efforts. The Jed Foundation (JED), a leading nonprofit focused on teen and young adult mental health, will provide strategic guidance for implementing Beacon.
Developed over 18 months, Beacon gives institutions the tools to identify students at risk of dropping out and make informed, data-driven decisions to support them. The platform combines student wellness assessments with institutional data to provide real-time insights at both individual and population levels.
Unlike traditional screening methods, which can take months to generate actionable insights, Beacon offers a dynamic view of student needs. Semi-annual assessments target specific student cohorts, such as first-year or graduate students, helping staff act quickly to connect students with support services.
Beacon has already shown strong results. At the New Jersey Institute of Technology, an October 2025 pilot identified high-risk students and enabled interventions like workshops and personalized outreach, helping nearly 39% of students complete the program.

Matt Kennedy, CEO and Co-founder of Mantra Health, said, “Beacon allows institutions to act proactively rather than reactively, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed”. With plans to integrate AI-driven predictive analytics, the platform will eventually forecast which interventions can most effectively improve student well-being, persistence, and graduation outcomes.
By combining mental health support with actionable data, Beacon aims to help higher education institutions develop skilled, resilient graduates who are prepared for academic and career success.
