    • The collaboration integrates ASU’s top-ranked programs, offering Mapua students enhanced academic content, global learning experiences, and pathways to international degrees.
    • The partnership emphasizes curriculum innovation, emerging fields like AI, dual degree options, and joint research, positioning Mapua as a leader in shaping the future of education in the Philippines.

Mapua Education Group and Arizona State University (ASU) have taken their innovative partnership to new heights with the announcement of an expanded collaboration aimed at globalizing Philippine higher education. Initially focused on business and health sciences, the partnership now marks a groundbreaking shift, positioning Mapua as the first Philippine educational group to partner comprehensively with a globally ranked institution like ASU. This expansion opens up new pathways for Mapua students across all programs and schools, including Mapua University, Mapua Malayan College Laguna, Mapua Malayan College Mindanao, and Mapua Malayan Digital College.

As part of the new agreement, all Mapua students will gain access to world-class global education. Through the integration of ASU's top-ranked academic programs, students will benefit from high-quality courses enhanced with instructional content from ASU’s vast repository of resources. The collaboration also provides numerous opportunities for students to engage in international learning experiences, both through ASU itself and its rapidly expanding ASU-Cintana Alliance, a network that currently includes 35 forward-thinking universities around the world. This partnership opens the door to cost-effective pathway options leading to international degrees, which will be delivered both on-site and online.

The collaboration between Mapua and ASU is a significant leap forward for Philippine higher education, as it combines academic excellence, innovation, and global reputation. Mapua University, which is ranked #1 in the Philippines for Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences, and is in the top 6% of universities globally according to Times Higher Education, now benefits from ASU’s expertise. The joint effort sets a new benchmark for what academic partnerships can achieve and demonstrates the transformative potential of global academic collaboration.

One of the most exciting aspects of this partnership is its emphasis on providing a fully integrated, student-centric experience. With the inclusion of ASU’s globally benchmarked academic content and innovation frameworks, Mapua’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs will now be enhanced with a focus on curriculum relevance, academic rigor, and the integration of emerging fields like artificial intelligence (AI). ASU’s extensive experience in AI frameworks, digital learning, and innovation will be embedded into Mapua’s programs, helping to future-proof students for industries that are being reshaped by these technologies.

In addition to this academic integration, the partnership includes global learning pathways that offer Mapua students a clear path to advanced degrees and international exposure. These pathways include dual degree options, accelerated master's programs, and mobility opportunities at ASU, giving students the chance to broaden their horizons while still maintaining access to high-quality education in the Philippines. This strategic global exposure is designed to develop well-rounded graduates who are ready to take on leadership roles in their respective fields.

ASU’s President, Michael M. Crow, expressed his enthusiasm for the expanded collaboration, stating, “We are excited that Mapua is advancing to the level of comprehensive partner. As a comprehensive, broadly scoped institution, we look forward to working together through our Cintana relationship to help Mapua achieve its aspirations and to support the Philippines, together with its allies including the United States in moving forward”.

The partnership also aims to contribute to the Philippines’ national development by fostering research collaboration and innovation. Joint research initiatives will be launched, enabling faculty and students to engage in multi-disciplinary exchanges that strengthen both teaching excellence and industry-relevant innovation. Mapua will also expand its focus on sustainability and global challenges, with plans for initiatives such as the establishment of a Green College and increased student engagement in addressing technology and societal issues.

This partnership is more than just an academic alliance; it is a bold step toward reshaping the future of Philippine higher education. With the shared vision of empowering Filipino students, Mapua and ASU are setting a new standard for collaboration that will impact the future of education in the Philippines and beyond.
