The University of Nottingham has launched a new Division of Life and Health Sciences at its Ningbo campus (UNNC), marking a significant step in Sino-British collaboration in education, research, and skills development. The division aims to address global health challenges while training the next generation of health and science professionals.
Focusing on pharmacology, psychology, biomedical engineering, and related health sciences, the division combines Nottingham’s global research expertise with UNNC’s regional networks to produce graduates with strong practical skills and international exposure.
Professor Jon Garibaldi, Provost of UNNC, said the initiative reflects the university’s evolution from an educational pioneer into a hub for innovation and industry collaboration. The division will also leverage Nottingham’s leadership in medical research, including Nobel Prize-winning MRI research and the development of a next-generation MRI system already used in clinical settings at UNNC.

Through joint faculty appointments, collaborative teaching, and research programs, the division will offer a complete learning pathway from undergraduate to doctoral studies. Students will benefit from cross-campus exchanges, research training, and clinical placements, enhancing job readiness and global mobility.
The launch marks a milestone in UNNC’s over 20 years of Sino-British cooperation. As the first China-UK cooperative university approved by China’s Ministry of Education, UNNC continues to strengthen global education links while preparing skilled talent for careers in health, science, and innovation.
