- New visa for science and technology graduates, effective October 1, 2025, including Pakistani students.
- Allows participation in research, academic exchanges, and entrepreneurship with longer stays and multiple entries.
- No invitation letter needed; no restrictions on age, education, or work experience, boosting Pakistan-China collaboration in tech and education.
China has announced a new visa category, the K visa, aimed at attracting science and technology graduates from across the world, including Pakistan. The policy, approved by China’s State Council, will take effect on October 1, 2025, following a decree signed by Premier Li Qiang.
The K visa provides a significant opportunity for Pakistani professionals and students seeking careers in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Thousands of Pakistani students already pursuing higher education in China, especially in engineering, information technology, and applied sciences, can now extend their stay and participate in global scientific and technological projects.
Under the new policy, Pakistani graduates can:
- Engage in scientific research and academic exchanges.
- Access entrepreneurial and business opportunities.
- Enjoy longer stays, multiple entries, and simplified visa procedures.
Unlike other Chinese visas, the K visa does not require an invitation letter from a local employer or institution and removes restrictions based on age, education, or work experience.

Chinese authorities said the policy is part of a broader strategy to boost the country’s scientific and technological talent pool through international collaboration. For Pakistan, this move is expected to strengthen bilateral ties in education, research, and technology while creating new pathways for young professionals.
With the K visa, Pakistan’s students and graduates have a unique chance to gain global exposure, contribute to cutting-edge projects, and enhance collaboration between the two nations.
