Philippines, UNICEF Collaborate to Enhance Child-Centered Education

    The Philippine government is intensifying efforts to improve child-focused development through a strengthened partnership with UNICEF. A high-level meeting between Arsenio M. Balisacan, and UNICEF Philippines’ new representative, Kyungsun Kim, took place at the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) office in Mandaluyong City.

    The discussion highlighted the Country Program Action Plan (CPAP) 2024-2028, focusing on inclusive, child-centered development across key sectors such as education, child protection, and social services. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing children's rights, aligning with the Midterm Update of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.

    Key initiatives include supporting learning recovery, enhancing education systems, and ensuring marginalized children have better access to quality education. There is a strong push to increase investments in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), recognizing its role in fostering future skills and opportunities for children.

    DEPDev officials and the UNICEF delegation expressed their shared dedication to developing practical programs that ensure the well-being of Filipino children, particularly in education and skill-building.
