Soongsil University Partners with Azerbaijan to Promote Korean Studies

    Soongsil University has partnered with the Azerbaijan University of Languages to strengthen academic cooperation and promote Korean studies. The agreement, signed on February 3 in Baku, will leverage online learning through Korea’s Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC) platform and expand scholarly exchanges between the two institutions.

    The MoU outlines joint use of K-MOOC courses on traditional Korean arts and culture, co-hosting of international conferences and seminars, and collaborative programs at the Korean Studies Center in Azerbaijan. The initiative will allow students and researchers to access high-quality online courses, with opportunities to earn certificates, enhancing skills and global academic exposure.

    Kamal Abdulla, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, said the partnership will position the Korean Studies Center as a hub for language education and research in Azerbaijan. Cha Bong-jun, director of Soongsil University’s Institute of Korean Studies, highlighted the collaboration’s significance in promoting Korean studies and expanding educational content overseas.

    Soongsil University’s Institute of Korean Studies is running the K-Academic Expansion Research Project through 2028, developing 10 K-MOOC courses on traditional Korean arts. This collaboration is expected to create new learning opportunities, build cross-cultural skills, and prepare students for careers in education, research, and international studies.
