Southern Cross University Partners with Sri Lanka's NSBM Green University

    Southern Cross University (SCU), Australia, has signed a significant partnership agreement with Sri Lanka’s NSBM Green University to offer its globally recognized business and IT degree programs to students in South Asia. This landmark collaboration allows Sri Lankan students to complete SCU’s academic programs at NSBM without having to relocate to Australia, making world-class education more accessible and affordable.

    The offshore program aims to integrate Southern Cross University’s high academic standards with NSBM’s robust infrastructure and experienced faculty. The joint effort ensures students receive the same quality education as those studying on SCU campuses in Australia, with a focus on delivering practical, job-ready skills that meet global industry demands.

    “We are excited to partner with Southern Cross University to offer their renowned, job-ready business and IT programs at NSBM Green University”, said Professor E.A. Weerasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of NSBM. “This collaboration provides our students the opportunity to earn an Australian degree locally, equipping them with practical skills and industry-focused knowledge needed to succeed in a global economy and be workforce-ready”.

    The agreement also sets the stage for a broader academic collaboration, including joint research initiatives, staff and student exchange programs, and the advancement of academic mobility between Sri Lanka and Australia. According to Professor Darshana Sedera, Associate Dean (International & Engagement) at SCU, “This initiative will provide highly cost-effective, world-class education to Sri Lankan students, enabling them to save substantially on tuition and living expenses. The program also offers a seamless credit transfer pathway and options for postgraduate studies at SCU in Australia”.

    Southern Cross University's Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, Professor Mike Ewing, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. “We are absolutely delighted to announce this collaboration with NSBM Green University. Together, we will foster new opportunities for research, education, and community engagement, enriching the lives of students, staff, and communities in both Australia and Sri Lanka”.

    The partnership marks a vital step in SCU’s international expansion and commitment to delivering sustainable, accessible, and high-quality education globally, while further strengthening educational ties between Australia and South Asia.
