Ateneo de Manila University hosted a delegation from the University of Tokyo’s Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory, the Embassy of Japan, and JICA on April 1, 2026. The visit aimed to strengthen AI education, student skills, and innovation.
Led by Professor Yutaka Matsuo, the delegation engaged with Ateneo faculty to explore ways to prepare students for an AI-driven job market. Discussions focused on AI education, startup incubation, and technology transfer, highlighting how universities can connect learning with real-world applications.
Ateneo also shared its initiatives to support student-led startups through incubation programs. These programs help students build skills in areas such as intellectual property, data-driven business development, and market validation.

A key highlight was the introduction of the Global Consumer Intelligence (GCI) World April 2026 program. This free, three-month online course covers AI, data science, and their use in business and marketing. The program is open to students from all backgrounds and offers practical, career-focused learning.
Top-performing participants may also get an opportunity to join a study tour in Japan, providing valuable global exposure. The course begins on April 8, with applications closing on April 7.
This collaboration reflects the growing importance of global partnerships in building job-ready skills and preparing students for future careers in AI and technology.
