During the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Tianjin, China, on June 25, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to deepen bilateral cooperation and explore new areas of partnership.
PM Chinh delivered a letter from State President Luong Cuong, formally inviting President Noboa to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, scheduled for October in Ha Noi. Noboa praised Viet Nam’s initiative and confirmed Ecuador’s participation through a high-level delegation, recognizing the importance of the legal framework in combating global cyber threats.
Highlighting economic cooperation, PM Chinh encouraged Ecuador to support Vietnamese telecom giant Viettel Group in investing in the country's telecommunications, 5G services, and digital transformation initiatives. He emphasized the potential for job creation and development in Ecuador and extended an invitation to President Noboa to make an official visit to Viet Nam later this year.
President Noboa affirmed Viet Nam’s role as a key partner and lauded its accomplishments in STEM education. He expressed interest in strengthening educational collaboration and promoting people-to-people exchanges, particularly among the youth. He also welcomed the involvement of Vietnamese enterprises in Ecuador’s plans for 5G network development.
The two leaders agreed to increase high-level exchanges, optimize existing cooperation mechanisms, and promote trade, investment, and business connectivity. They also exchanged perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual concern, signaling a shared commitment to strategic collaboration across multiple sectors.
