VNU-HCM Strengthens Global Ties with 21 New Visiting Professors for 2025

    • VNU-HCM has appointed 21 new visiting professors from countries like the UK, Japan, South Korea, and Australia for 2025, focusing on AI, IT, semiconductors, and environmental sciences.
    • These scholars will contribute to teaching and research across VNU-HCM’s member institutions, enhancing academic quality and innovation.
    • Launched in February 2024, the Visiting Professor Programme aims to appoint 100 international academics by 2030, with 50 targeted by next year.

    The Viet Nam National University-HCM City (VNU-HCM) has announced the appointment of 21 distinguished international scholars under its Visiting Professor Programme for 2025, further strengthening its global academic collaboration and research capabilities.

    Released on June 24 following a review by the advisory council, the list includes 17 leading experts in high-demand fields such as information technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, and mathematics. These professors hail from prestigious institutions across Singapore, South Korea, the UK, France, Canada, Japan, and Australia.

    The remaining four appointments specialize in biotechnology, botany, ecology, and environmental engineering areas crucial to sustainable development and environmental research.

    Notable appointees include Prof. Han The Anh (Teesside University, UK), a specialist in AI and multi-agent systems; Prof. Tran Thanh Long (University of Warwick, UK), known for his work in AI; Prof. Kiyofumi Tanaka (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), focused on digital infrastructure; and Prof. Ki-Ryong Kwon (Global FinTech Promotion Centre, South Korea), an expert in electronic and computer engineering.

    These visiting scholars will contribute to teaching and research across multiple VNU-HCM member institutions, including the University of Technology, University of Science, and the Institute for Circular Economy Development.

    Launched in February 2024, the Visiting Professor Programme has already welcomed 49 scholars. With a target of 100 appointments by 2030 including 50 by next year the programme is seen as a cornerstone in VNU-HCM’s efforts to boost academic excellence, innovation, and international integration across Việt Nam’s higher education landscape.
