The Asia-Pacific Institute of Business (APIB), the executive education arm of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School, has unveiled a new series of Professional Certificate Programmes (Micro-credentials) aimed at providing flexible, industry-relevant education for working professionals. This initiative responds to the global demand for accessible and practical learning options tailored to the fast-changing business environment.
These Professional Certificate Programmes offer a fresh alternative to traditional degrees by focusing on practical applications, shorter course durations, and affordable tuition. Designed to bridge the academic gap between undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the programmes empower participants with real-world skills and knowledge crucial for long-term career success.
CUHK Business School’s micro-credential series includes five cutting-edge and industry-specific courses in the following high-demand areas: Innovation Leadership, Technology Applications for Financial Services, Sustainability and ESG Reporting, Family Business and Wealth Succession, and Artificial Intelligence for Business. Each course is carefully designed to equip learners with the latest tools and frameworks needed to thrive in their respective fields.
Professor Waiman Cheung, Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) at CUHK Business School and Executive Director of APIB, emphasized the career-oriented nature of the programmes, stating, “Our Professional Certificate Programmes are designed as career accelerators for young professionals seeking immediate and tangible results. The flexible and modular format allows completion within six to 36 months, entirely on the student’s own schedule”.
A standout feature of these programmes is the seamless credit transfer option to CUHK Business School’s master's programmes. Listed at Level 6 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF), graduates may transfer up to six credits towards a master’s degree, offering a pathway to advanced academic credentials.
Professor Yang Harbin, Programme Director of MSc in Sustainable Global Business, highlighted the value of the Sustainability and ESG Reporting programme. “It builds essential skills such as ESG reporting, strategic sustainability planning, and interdisciplinary problem-solving tools that are now critical in global business”.
