DOST, DepEd Launch Joint STEM Push in Davao Oriental

    • DOST launches 'STEMming the Future' education program in Mati City, Davao Oriental
    • DOST XI, DepEd Davao Oriental ink MOU to boost STEM through teacher training and STEM projects
    • Initiative supports DOST’s Smart & Sustainable Cities and CEST programs in local communities

    A Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education program is being initiated in Mati City, Davao Oriental.

    The program entitled "STEMming the Future: Powering Up Education in Davao Oriental", will be undertaken by the Department of Science and Technology via the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Davao Oriental, the Department of Education Davao Oriental, and the Department of Education.

    The three offices will collaboratively carry out teacher training, deploy educational materials, initiate STEM-driven projects, and track activities on public schools of the Mati City,  Davao Oriental.

    The programs are set to enhance the knowledge and capacity of educators and learners alike in the vast range of STEM education.

    To get the project rolling, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was just inked by the Provincial S&T Office-Davao Oriental, Department of Education Davao Oriental, and Department of Education.

    "This collaboration will enhance teachers' capacity and enhance students' interest in STEM. DOST XI continues to support education programs that enhance local capabilities through Science and Technology",  said DOST-Davao Regional Director Anthony Sales.

    The STEM program will enhance  DOST Davao Region's  Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SSCC) and Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) in Davao Oriental communities.
