Education Perfect has launched a revamped Languages product for Australian and New Zealand secondary schools to enhance language pedagogy and learning results.

The newly introduced Languages package aims to cater to plummeting student numbers in language study at secondary level. Recent studies point to only 8.6 percent of Year 12 Australian students being enrolled in a language subject when the nation's population comprises more than 270 ethnic groups and the Asia-Pacific region's increasing demand for communication skills globally.

Education Perfect's methodology is guided by research and evidence-based practice pedagogy, with an emphasis on scaffolding the students' language development regardless of the students' proficiency level. For the organisation, student confidence, identity building, and the use of real-world contexts are key to successful language acquisition.

The offering includes skill snapshot tests, which teachers can employ to track pupil progress at several points within a subject. The focused tests are intended to provide a rich description of every pupil's learning journey, being part of a cohesive cycle of teaching and learning.

Students are taught beyond standard language learning approaches centered on memorisation. The new platform inspires them to use fundamental skills — reading, writing, listening and speaking in energetic, scenario-based learning spaces designed to encourage confidence and realistic communication.

Courses are offered in a range of commonly-studied languages, i.e., French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese. There are interactive and multimodal modules in each course to accommodate a variety of learning styles. Customizable tools and low-stakes, scaffolded activities enable learners to build speaking skills and participate constructively in a risk-free environment.

Instructional content is made available either through whole-class delivery or on individual student devices, with new summative topic tests. Teachers receive access to new reporting tools that connect directly to curriculum outcomes, enabling more straightforward recognition of trends and progress across lessons and units.

More resources are being unveiled to assist teachers who do not have specialist language training, with the goal of preserving effective teaching standards in different school environments. Education Perfect is also introducing a new subscription level to make its assessment and education tools accessible more widely, especially to schools that lack resources or budget.

Philippa Kruger, Senior Product Manager: Global Languages at Education Perfect, asserted, "Education Perfect has re-imagined language learning with one over-riding goal in mind: to unlock the maximum potential of every student. The enhanced languages offering is created to equip teachers with a valuable classroom ally. With powerful tests, learning snapshots, improved content and lessons and interactive tools, no longer must teachers rely on a range of tools and their own ingenuity, but now they have an offering to complement the entire teaching cycle".

Amanda Kennedy, Italian Teacher at Kelvin Grove State College said, "Attempting to monitor multiple strands of learning for each student on paper is impossible. This clear, visual reporting particularly with the colours that immediately signal areas of need is a game-changer. It identifies for me exactly who needs it and lets me intervene exactly when and where they need it".

Languages updates in Education Perfect mirror the organisation's wider aim to enable teachers and students alike, focusing on differential and individualised learning at scale. New modules and tests in the system are being touted as part of the effort to reverse declining participation in language study nationally and to place students with skills better aligned to multicultural and international contexts.
