Indonesia China Drive Growth In Asia Vocational Education

    Pratikno has called for a stronger push to connect education and industry as countries navigate rising global disruptions driven by technology shifts, climate change, and geopolitical uncertainty. Speaking at the Annual Conference of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance (CITIEA) held at Universitas Gadjah Mada, he stressed that collaboration is now essential to building global competitiveness and shaping the future workforce.

    Pratikno highlighted that Asia is entering what he described as a new era of global resurgence, stating that Indonesia and China must play leading roles in shaping the 'Asian Century'. He urged stakeholders to view disruptions not as setbacks but as opportunities for innovation, skills transformation, and faster economic progress. According to him, partnerships between governments, universities, and industries must move beyond discussion and focus on real-world impact.

    Reinforcing this vision, Ova Emilia emphasized the urgency of aligning university curricula with evolving industry needs, especially as digital transformation and sustainability reshape global labor markets. She noted that international cooperation is no longer optional but necessary for building an integrated ecosystem connecting talent, technology, and industry.

    The conference brought together more than 300 participants from Indonesia, China, and global industry partners, showcasing growing momentum in vocational education reform and cross-border collaboration. China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance served as a key platform for strengthening TVET education, promoting applied research, and expanding global internship and recruitment opportunities.

    Experts at the forum also stressed the importance of improving graduate employability, expanding professional certification, and closing the gap between education output and industry demand. The discussions reflected a shared goal: building a future-ready workforce through stronger global education partnerships and practical industry integration that prepares students for an increasingly competitive international job market.
