At a Tuesday meeting, Chinese Education Minister Huai Jinpeng and Simaei-Sarraf discussed avenues for the development of the educational cooperation between the two nations.

Identifying Iran's strength and top position in science and technology, the Chinese representative expressed his country's readiness to increase cooperation between Iran and China by providing training in Persian and Chinese languages as well as the exchange of professors.

"China has already awarded academic scholarships to more than 200 of Iran's students. The nation is prepared to invite more Iranian students and have more Chinese students in Iran," he added.

Huai also stated China's preparedness to build an electronic education platform to promote educational relations between China and Iran.

In return, Simaei-Sarraf emphasized the scientific, cultural, technological, and philosophical similarities between the two countries, stating that more interactions between elites will help solve people's issues and improve relations between the two countries.

Emphasizing Iran's tremendous advancements in science and engineering, especially in biology, nanotechnology, stem cells, information technology, water engineering, dam and power plant planning, aerospace, and medical sciences, he stated that Iran is among the world's top 10 nations with strategic science and technology.

Elsewhere in his comments, Simaei-Sarraf emphasized the necessity of increasing student exchange programs between Iran and China and creating opportunities for sabbatical leave for teachers and postgraduate students.

Iranian universities are searching for the prospect of establishing scientific and research cooperation with Chinese and Russian universities under the strategic partnership with the two nations.

During an April 11 meeting in China, the deputy science minister, Saeed Habiba, and China Scholarship Council Secretary-General Sheng Jianxue spoke of avenues through which to cultivate scientific relations between the universities of both countries.

The two spoke at a center on Friday afternoon focusing on having common courses for teaching together, student-exchange programs for professors, the development of scholarship schemes sponsored by governments, enlarging technological partnerships, scientific collaboration, and exchanges of knowledge.

Habiba explained the academic and scientific capabilities and capacities of Iran at the meeting.

Iran and China officially signed the agreement for 25-year extensive cooperation in March 2021.

The agreement was signed by Iran's former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Earlier in December 2022, Iran and China completed 16 memoranda of understanding within the ambit of the two nations' strategic 25-year agreement.
