Korea University celebrated the 120th anniversary of its establishment at Korea University's Seoul Campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul on the 5th and declared its vision for 2040. As part of its vision for 2040, Korea University presented to be among the top 20 universities in the world in research competitiveness by 2040, to establish a model for global education to enhance the start-up ecosystem and industry-academic collaboration.
Kim Jae-ho, chairman of the Korea Central Academy, stated in a commemorative speech, "Korea University must go beyond the country and the nation to become an 'university indispensable in the world' that supports the future of mankind." Korea University President Kim Dong-won stated, "On the school's 120th anniversary, we will make a leap to become a university that supports the future society of mankind."
Former skater Kim Yu-na (Sports Education 09), Olympic gold medalist, was also present at the event, which attracted attention. In a congratulatory speech, he declared, "Korea University will begin 'free skating' after completing the 'short program' today. Please cheer on Korea University's higher jump." Park Ki-seok, chairman of Construction Tech, Koo Hu-yeon, president of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), and Kim Nam-gu, chairman of the Korea Investment Finance Holdings, received the proud ancient person award.
