MGM China Launches RG Education Program for Workforce Development

  • MGM China has unveiled a new program for furthering staff members' understanding of gambling-related harm. Introduced the MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program is a program designed to provide team members with a greater and more lasting platform for education on responsible gaming. 

    The program, through the use of roadshows, pop-up games, online quizzes, training sessions, and courses, aims to further awareness and educate staff with information to assist in reducing problem gambling.

    This new initiative is just one part of MGM China's overall mission to create a more balanced and sustainable society. The initiative is created with input from a number of important public institutions, such as the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) and the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) of Macao SAR, as well as academic assistance from the University of Macau and the Macao Polytechnic University.

    A launch ceremony was recently conducted at MGM COTAI to mark the launch of the program. The ceremony was attended by a series of key stakeholders from various levels of the government, education, and social services departments. Some of the notable guests included Yang Yi from Liaison Office of the Central People's Government of Macau, Aster Ng of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, and Bonnie Wu of the IAS. Delegates from the co-organizing groups like Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Macao New Chinese Youth Association, and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office also attended.

    Tian Han, MGM's executive vice president of gaming operations and strategic marketing, thanked the partnering organizations and noted the program's position as part of a 'dual-track' approach. He pointed out how the initiative supplements the current MGM Responsible Gaming Community Engagement Scheme, creating an internal and external approach to encouraging safer gambling.

    Wendy Yu, MGM's executive vice president of human resources, also joined the ceremony, reflecting the company's focus on innovation and inclusiveness in responsible gaming initiatives. MGM China hopes to create a standard in corporate social responsibility in the gaming sector with this new program.
