Nirvana Asia Group has launched the 'Kids Have You' student education crowdfunding campaign during its annual Zhongyuan Enlightenment Ceremony, aiming to provide 3,000 complete school starter sets to underprivileged pupils across 159 Chinese primary schools in the Klang Valley.
The initiative, timed with the seventh lunar month traditionally known as Gratitude Month, invites the public to support children facing financial hardship as the new school year approaches. For every RM100 donated, the group will deliver one full set of essentials: a school bag, a pair of school shoes, two sets of uniform, two pairs of socks, and a small handwritten card from the donor.
Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong, Founder and Executive Chairman of Nirvana Asia Group, highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to Chinese education at the ceremony. “Nirvana Group has always placed great importance on the development of Chinese education,” he said. “Education is a vital force that changes children’s futures and forms the foundation for society’s progress. Beyond giving back to society, we hope to leverage our corporate influence to inspire more people to care about children’s education and growth.”
The campaign addresses a practical burden many families face. Basic learning materials can strain household budgets, and the approach of a new term intensifies the need for uniforms, footwear and bags. Nirvana Asia Group has structured the drive so that the RM100 contribution remains accessible; the company absorbs any shortfall between the donation amount and the actual cost of each set.
It has further pledged that if the 3,000-set target is not reached or if schools identify additional students in need, the group will fully cover the remaining quantity. This guarantee ensures every listed beneficiary receives supplies on time and can begin the school year with greater peace of mind.
School authorities are actively supporting the effort by supplying verified lists of students who require assistance, helping ensure resources reach those most in need. Through the accompanying handwritten card, donors offer more than material items they convey personal encouragement and blessings that the children can carry into the classroom.
The campaign forms part of Nirvana Asia Group’s broader pattern of educational support. In addition to its annual RM30,000 allocation to the Selangor Chinese Primary School Principals’ Council for organising 12 academic competitions, the group this year presented a RM50,000 contribution to the Malaysian National Union of Heads of Schools. The funds will assist nationwide principals’ exchanges, training programmes and organisational development.
The Zhongyuan Enlightenment Ceremony itself has been held by Nirvana Asia Group since 1995 at its memorial parks, following local religious customs. While the gatherings traditionally focus on dedicating merits to ancestors and transmitting values of filial piety and cultural continuity, the company has in recent years woven social and charitable themes into the events. Past campaigns have included 'A Pack of Rice, An Act of Charity' 'Zero Bullying, Sweeter Schools', and 'Compassion Above Conflict, United in Prayer for Peace'. These initiatives position the ceremony as both a cultural observance and a platform for collective goodwill.
“We believe the ceremony is not only a place to dedicate merits to ancestors, but also a meaningful occasion to pass down Chinese cultural traditions and filial piety,” Tan Sri Kong said. He added that the company seeks to use its reach to draw attention to societal challenges while encouraging people to cherish what they already have.

The first week of activities at Nirvana Memorial Park (Shah Alam) drew strong public response. Members of the public who wish to take part can visit designated booths at the remaining Enlightenment Ceremonies. Upcoming dates and venues are Nirvana Memorial Garden (Semenyih) from 21 to 23 August 2026, Nirvana Center Kuala Lumpur (Nirvana 2) from 29 to 30 August 2026, and Nirvana Memorial Park (Klang) from 5 to 6 September 2026.
By combining accessible crowdfunding with a corporate backstop and school-level coordination, the “Kids Have You” campaign seeks to convert community goodwill into tangible support. Organisers hope the gesture will not only ease immediate practical needs but also plant seeds of gratitude that encourage recipients, later in life, to extend similar care to others sustaining a cycle of compassion across generations.
The group continues to invite widespread participation so that more children can enter the new school year equipped with both essential supplies and the knowledge that society stands behind them.
