NTUC Launches Job Support for Retrenched Jetstar Asia Staff

    • NTUC and partners organized a job-matching drive to support over 500 Jetstar Asia staff facing retrenchment, held at the airline’s premises with 38 employers offering roles.
    • 1,400+ vacancies across aviation and related sectors including roles for cabin crew, pilots, engineers, and safety officers—were made available by companies like SIA Group, SATS, SMRT, and Changi Airport Group.
    • NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng assured continued support, highlighting the NTUC Job Security Council’s role in helping affected workers transition smoothly into new opportunities.

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and its allies have organised a job-matching exercise together to facilitate workers impacted by Jetstar Asia's imminent closure in finding new jobs.

The low-cost carrier, The Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers' Union, NTUC Aviation and Aerospace cluster of unions, Employment and Employability Institute of NTUC, and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) arranged the job matching exercise for more than 500 retrenched staff at the premises of the firm.

About 38 employers are participating in the exercise, out of whom 14 are attending the event. Most employers belong to the aerospace and aviation industries. There are also other employers such as SMRT Corporation, SATS, and the Changi Airport Group.

There are more than 1,400 job vacancies, including cabin crew and pilots, as well as engineering, air hub operations, safety, and quality assurance jobs.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng vowed NTUC to deliver more career transition support with the help of the NTUC Job Security Council.

Ng explained that Singapore Airlines Group, the Changi Airport Group, and SATS, which are providing different vacancies at the Jetstar Asia job matching exercise, are still hiring for different positions and growing.
