PPS and ADB to Host e-Procurement Education Program for Asia-Pacific Officials

  • The Korea Public Procurement Service (PPS) has stated that it will join hands with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to organize an e-procurement training program for the Asia-Pacific region from April 28 to May 2. The program will give 15 working-level government officials representing nine nations Mongolia, Armenia, Bhutan, Maldives, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vietnam the chance to learn about Korea's sophisticated e-procurement system.

Introduced last year, the ADB e-Procurement Education Program brings officials to Korea for hands-on training on Korea's legal systems and procurement policies driving public procurement in the country. The program aims at innovation-led procurement practices, specifically targeted at assisting small and medium enterprises.

One of the highlights of this year's program is hands-on training on the newly upgraded Korea ON-line e-Procurement System (KONEPS), which reopened on March 31. Participants will have first-hand experience with Korea's state-of-the-art e-procurement technologies and will learn how these advanced practices can be applied to enhance procurement systems in their respective countries.

Jun Tae-won, the Director General for Planning and Coordination of PPS, commented, "We are glad to provide overseas procurement officials with a chance to experience and learn from the newly renovated KONEPS." He further said, "By not only highlighting the technological superiority of KONEPS but also best practices throughout Korea's public procurement system, we hope to make valuable contributions in promoting greater transparency and efficiency in public procurement administration throughout developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region".
