The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business are continuing to advance the Philippines’ first transnational undergraduate double-degree program, reflecting a shared commitment to global education, technological innovation, and industry relevance. Since 2022, the partnership has enabled students enrolled in AIM’s Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Administration (BSDSBA) to also earn a Bachelor of Business Administration, major in Management Information Systems (BBA, MIS) from Houston Bauer upon completing the four-year curriculum.

The integrated program combines rigorous training in data science, business analytics, and information systems with strong foundations in management and enterprise strategy. This equips students with interdisciplinary skills essential in today’s digital economy. “AIM and the University of Houston bring complementary strengths that together create a transnational educational experience that neither institution could deliver alone”, said Dean Xianjun Geng of the C. T. Bauer College of Business. He added that global strategy is a top priority, and partnering with a leading institution in the ASEAN region strengthens Houston Bauer’s international education strategy.

The collaboration leverages the distinct strengths of both institutions: Houston Bauer’s globally recognized expertise in business education and MIS, and AIM’s applied, enterprise-driven approach to management and technology education. By offering cross-border academic exposure and access to international business environments, the dual-degree program broadens students’ global perspectives while preparing them for careers in technology-driven industries.

“We don’t just want our students to compete globally; we want them to lead transformation”, said Professor Christopher Monterola, head of AIM’s Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (Asite). AIM President and Dean Jikyeong Kang emphasized the broader mission of shaping graduates with a truly global mindset, capable of navigating cultures, thinking across borders, and leading with competence and perspective in an interconnected world.

Now in its third year, the program has 150 students across first- to third-year levels, with a selective intake of 50 students annually. The first cohort is expected to graduate in 2027, coinciding with the University of Houston’s centennial celebration, marking a significant milestone for this model of strategic international academic partnership that prepares globally fluent, technologically adept leaders.
