The Second Diabetes Education Conference in Abu Dhabi gathered over 300 healthcare professionals, marking a major step toward strengthening frontline efforts in diabetes care. Organized by the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), part of M42’s healthcare network, the event focused on the evolving role of technology and personalized care in managing diabetes across the region.

This year’s theme, ‘Personalised Diagnostics and Therapeutics: Where Man Meets Machine, What Comes Next?’ emphasized the collaboration between human expertise and digital innovation in improving patient outcomes. The conference followed last year’s successful debut and showed a significant rise in attendance, reflecting a growing demand for knowledge sharing and practical training among healthcare workers.

The one day programme featured workshops, expert talks, and hands on sessions tailored to allied health professionals including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and diabetes educators. Topics covered included the latest in insulin pump technologies, continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs), data driven diagnostics, AI tools, and behavioral coaching strategies. Attendees also explored how AI and machine learning are being used to enhance patient engagement, streamline care, and bridge gaps in diabetes education.

The conference reinforced ICLDEC’s leadership in driving collaborative, innovation-led education aimed at transforming the future of diabetes care in the UAE and beyond.
