ADU Opens FertiClinic Reproductive Research Lab in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi University has inaugurated the FertiClinic Reproductive Research Lab on its campus as part of a strategic collaboration with FertiClinic Fertilization Group. The new facility strengthens the university’s focus on research, innovation and practical learning in reproductive medicine while giving students and researchers access to advanced clinical expertise and laboratory infrastructure.

The purpose-built laboratory is housed within ADU’s College of Health Sciences. It is dedicated to in-vitro fertilization research, including andrology and cryopreservation, and is equipped with advanced technologies that meet both Department of Health – Abu Dhabi standards and international benchmarks. By locating specialised research infrastructure directly on campus, the university aims to create a seamless environment where academic inquiry and clinical practice can interact closely.

The official opening ceremony took place at ADU’s Innovation Center and was attended by university leadership, representatives from FertiClinic and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, faculty members, researchers, healthcare professionals and key stakeholders. The initiative supports national development strategies, including We the UAE 2031 and the UAE Centennial 2071, by contributing to a knowledge-based economy. It also advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, Goal 4 on quality education, and Goal 17 on partnerships for the goals.

Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, described the laboratory as an important step forward for reproductive medicine in the UAE. “The opening of the FertiClinic Reproductive Research Lab represents a significant milestone in driving reproductive medicine research and education in the UAE. By bringing specialized research infrastructure directly into our university campus, the facility creates a unique platform for collaboration between academic researchers and clinical experts.

Our collaboration with the FertiClinic Group will empower the next generation of healthcare leaders to drive meaningful, real-world breakthroughs in reproductive medicine. The initiative will create opportunities to support impactful research, future educational programs and regional healthcare advancement while positioning Abu Dhabi as a growing hub for medical innovation.”

The laboratory is expected to support a range of activities, from fundamental and applied research to the training of future healthcare professionals. Students in the College of Health Sciences will gain hands-on experience with technologies and protocols used in modern fertility treatment, while researchers will have access to facilities that enable high-quality studies in IVF, andrology and related fields. The partnership also opens the door to future educational programmes and translational research projects that can improve clinical outcomes for patients across the region.

Abu Dhabi University, established in 2003, has grown into one of the region’s prominent higher-education institutions. It operates campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai and serves more than 10,000 students from over 100 nationalities.
