Kyrgyzstan's AIMU Attracts Growing Number of Indian MBBS Students

    • AIMU offers a 5.5-year English-medium MBBS program aligned with India’s NMC guidelines, including a compulsory internship.
    • The university is accredited by major global medical bodies like ECFMG, WFME, GMC, AMC, and MCC.
    • Over 780 Indian students are enrolled, with Indian faculty, FMGE coaching, Indian cuisine, and secure campus facilities.
Avicenna International Medical University (AIMU), situated in the heart of Bishkek, is rapidly gaining popularity among Indian students seeking affordable yet high-quality medical education abroad. With its curriculum closely aligned to India’s National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines and degrees recognized by prestigious global medical bodies, AIMU is establishing itself as a leading institution in international medical education.

One of the university’s key advantages is its strategic location in Bishkek’s capital city, combined with robust infrastructure that includes campus hospitals, separate hostels for boys and girls, and Indian cuisine prepared by dedicated chefs. The campus is secured with 24/7 CCTV surveillance, ensuring student safety and comfort. The university’s founder, who is of Indian origin, has emphasized creating a supportive environment tailored to Indian students’ needs.

AIMU’s MBBS program spans 5.5 years, inclusive of the mandatory Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI), making graduates eligible to practice in India. The program is taught entirely in English, eliminating language barriers and facilitating smoother academic progression for Indian students.

The university holds accreditations from internationally respected bodies such as the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in the USA, the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), the Australian Medical Council (AMC), and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). Its curriculum complies with the latest FMGE/NEXT 2021 guidelines issued by the NMC.

Currently, AIMU hosts over 1,600 international students, including more than 780 from India. Three batches of Indian graduates have already secured medical registration and begun practicing in India. According to university officials, “Our academic system is designed to closely mirror Indian medical education, ensuring a seamless transition for our students".

Additional facilities include FMGE/NEXT coaching on campus, Indian faculty members, advanced labs with simulation technology, and cultural activities to maintain a familiar environment. Notably, the Kyrgyz government allows AIMU graduates to practice in the country without a separate licensing exam after completing a one-year internship.

With a transparent fee structure and dedicated Indian support staff on campus, AIMU continues to attract Indian medical aspirants aiming for global recognition combined with comprehensive student support.
