PSMO, MIMS PH Join Forces to Advance Oncology Knowledge

In a move aimed at elevating continuous professional education for cancer specialists across the country, the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology (PSMO) and MIMS Philippines have formalized a partnership that will deliver exclusive, practice-focused oncology content to thousands of healthcare professionals.

The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement covering the period from August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027. Under the agreement, PSMO will supply exclusive educational materials while MIMS Philippines will manage editorial development, production, and nationwide distribution of the annual MIMS Oncology publication. Every PSMO member will receive a copy of the issue as part of the collaboration.

The partnership comes at a time when cancer care is advancing rapidly and clinicians increasingly need timely, evidence-based information tailored to the Philippine context. By combining PSMO’s clinical expertise with MIMS Philippines’ established medical publishing platform, the collaboration seeks to keep doctors updated on emerging research, evolving standards of care, and practical best practices in oncology.

Dr. Dennis Santos, PSMO President, underscored the value of the arrangement for the Society’s members. “Through this collaboration, the Society will be able to share practice-focused content, local research summaries, clinical guidelines, leadership features and society advisories that are valuable to our members’ clinical practice and continued professional growth,” he said.

Richard Rivera, President and Country Representative of MIMS Philippines, described the agreement as an extension of the company’s long-standing mission. “With MIMS Oncology, which has been a major part of our drive to empower healthcare communities and improve patient outcomes, MIMS Philippines hopes to shine the brightest spotlight on the Society and its mission to advance cancer care through advocacy, connection, and education,” Rivera stated.

The signing ceremony was attended by key figures from both organizations, including Dr. Edgar Christian Cuaresma, Chair of the PSMO Multimedia Committee; Dr. Dennis Santos; Richard Rivera; and Rowena Velasquez, Operations Manager of MIMS Philippines. The group posed with copies of the signed agreement, marking the formal start of the year-long partnership.

This is not the first time MIMS Philippines has teamed up with a major medical society. Earlier this year, the company entered a similar agreement with the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) for the MIMS Doctor magazine. The PSMO collaboration for MIMS Oncology continues that pattern of partnering with specialist groups to produce high-quality, relevant medical publications.

Oncology remains one of the most dynamic fields in medicine. New therapies, diagnostic tools, and treatment protocols emerge regularly, making continuous learning essential for physicians. At the same time, global research must be interpreted and applied within the realities of the Philippine healthcare system resource constraints, local epidemiology, patient demographics, and available technologies.
