Liwa University & AIJRF Partner on Agentic AI for Higher Education

  • Liwa University and the Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) have signed an academic and research memorandum of understanding to integrate Agentic AI technologies into higher education and scientific research. The agreement, announced in Abu Dhabi, focuses on developing specialized AI agents for media, health sciences, social sciences, business administration, and scientific research. It also supports curriculum development, faculty and student capability building, and innovation across academic disciplines.

Professor Mohamed Mahjoub Dhiaf, President of Liwa University, described the partnership as a strategic move to expand advanced technologies in education. He said the collaboration aims to create an academic environment that keeps pace with rapid advances in artificial intelligence, especially agentic applications that increase interaction, productivity, and innovation.

“We are entering a new phase in the development of higher education, one that goes beyond using AI tools in teaching and scientific research to designing specialized AI agents capable of assisting faculty members, researchers, and students in performing a wide range of academic and research tasks,” Professor Dhiaf said. “Through this partnership, we look forward to developing practical educational applications that enhance the quality of learning outcomes, open new opportunities for research and innovation, and prepare our graduates to work in professional environments that combine human capabilities with intelligent technologies.”

He stressed the need to train faculty members in designing and deploying intelligent agents in classrooms and research laboratories. This approach, he noted, supports more personalized and interactive learning while helping students build problem-solving, critical-thinking, and intelligent-systems skills. Professor Dhiaf also highlighted Liwa University’s membership in the Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities (AIU). The membership strengthens the university’s role in regional research that measures AI adoption in higher education and supports the exchange of academic expertise and data-driven institutional practices.

Dr. Mohamed Abdulzaher, CEO of AIJRF, said the agreement seeks to create a practical model for embedding Agentic AI in higher education institutions. The goal is to equip faculty and researchers with the skills needed to design and manage specialized AI agents across academic fields.

“We are witnessing a fundamental transformation in the future of higher education, in which professors and researchers are moving beyond simply using AI tools to leading integrated teams of AI agents,” Dr. Abdulzaher said. “These agents will support curriculum design, educational content development, learning outcome analysis, the management of certain stages of scientific research, and the development of academic projects. Our goal is to enable universities to build intelligent educational and research ecosystems led by human expertise and supported by the capabilities of Agentic AI.”

He explained that the new phase requires advanced academic skills such as prompt engineering, intelligent agent design, multi-agent system management, automation of academic and research processes, and evaluation of intelligent system outputs. The partnership forms part of AIJRF’s broader strategy to expand Agentic AI across university disciplines, particularly in theoretical and applied fields that can improve education and research quality.

The agreement aims to move institutions from conventional generative AI tools toward intelligent academic ecosystems based on AI agents. These agents will perform educational and research tasks, coordinate with one another, analyze data, support content development, and contribute to improved teaching and assessment methods all under human supervision and in line with academic governance and integrity standards.

Cooperation covers five main sectors. In media and communication, the partners plan to develop agents that support multimedia content production, audience trend analysis, fact-checking, digital platform management, and campaign design. In social sciences and humanities, agents will analyze social data, support survey research, examine trends and behaviors, develop research scenarios, and forecast societal changes.

In medical and health sciences, the focus is on educational and research applications that aid medical training and simulation, research data analysis, and health education content, with strict data protection and specialized human oversight. In business administration, multi-agent systems will support market analysis, intelligent marketing, strategic planning, financial and administrative performance analysis, and feasibility studies. In scientific research and academic publishing, specialized research agents will search literature, analyze previous studies, organize references, process data, and assist in preparing papers that meet academic integrity and international publishing standards.

The partnership also includes practical training. Workshops and programs will help faculty, researchers, and students develop personal and specialized AI agents and connect them in multi-agent systems that coordinate academic and research tasks. The collaboration will draw on AIJRF’s expertise, including the international program “Foundations of Academic Program Development and AI Integration” (FAPAI). This program equips academic leaders and faculty with skills to design curricula aligned with labor-market needs and technological advances.

Students will gain opportunities to design projects that use intelligent agents to address real-world challenges in their disciplines rather than limiting study to theoretical knowledge of AI. Hybrid teams of faculty, researchers, and intelligent agents will form a core part of the model.

AIJRF is an international research and applied institution founded in Dubai in 2018. It specializes in media, artificial intelligence, content creation, and future forecasting, with presence in the United Arab Emirates and the United States. The organization oversees more than 20 specialized international initiatives and offers more than 120 training programs and professional diplomas in artificial intelligence, Agentic AI, media, scientific research, higher education development, and digital transformation.

Liwa University focuses on student academic and personal success through targeted programs and support services. It offers 37 graduate and undergraduate programs across its College of Business, College of Engineering and Computing, College of Media and Public Relations, and College of Medical and Health Sciences. The university’s programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research through the Commission for Academic Accreditation. Additional international accreditations include ABET for selected engineering and information technology programs, ACBSP for the College of Business, AQAS for media programs, and AHPGS for selected health sciences programs.

The MoU positions both institutions to advance practical Agentic AI applications in higher education while maintaining academic standards and human oversight.
