The provincial government has opened around 1,298 scholarship positions for Ilocos Norte senior high school students. Officer-in-charge of the Provincial Education Office Willie Jake Sib-at said in an interview that majority of the slots, or 980 are academic scholarship slots, while 340 are for agriculture and fisheries and 50 for arts, with the latter two under technical-vocational-livelihood strand.
He added that academics are provided with PHP5,000-PHP10,000 stipend every semester.
"We accept applications for the scholarship grants for our senior high school students now. We remind our applicants to accomplish the requirements on or before July 22, 2025", he said.
Yearly, Ilocos Norte provincial government has been providing over PHP900 million funding for its several scholarship programs to maintain academic excellence in the province and alleviate poverty through knowledge.
On the tertiary level, Sib-at announced they are still waiting for current scholars who would like to renew their application before PEO officials can determine how many slots will be opened.
Existing scholars shall submit renewal form, completed voluntary service form, voluntary service papers, Barangay (village) certification of voluntary service done, and original grade certificate.
For current junior and senior high school scholars, they must also submit photocopy of form 138 or the report card, certified Form 5 or evaluation form and original and photocopy of enrollment certificate.
