OPF Launches Scholarships For Overseas Pakistani Students

    • Overseas Pakistanis Foundation launches nationwide scholarship program for families of expatriates studying in Pakistan
    • Financial aid covers intermediate to postgraduate studies, including professional degrees like MBBS and engineering
    • The initiative promotes educational equity and expands access to higher education for overseas-linked communities

The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has introduced a nationwide scholarship program aimed at supporting the families of expatriates pursuing education in Pakistan, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to higher education for overseas communities. Launched under the Overseas Pakistanis Education Fund (OPEF), the initiative offers financial assistance to children and spouses of Pakistanis living abroad who are enrolled in a wide range of academic programs.

The scholarship program covers students studying at intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, including professional degrees such as MBBS, BDS, and engineering, as well as master’s and MS programs. By extending eligibility to both public and private institutions, the initiative ensures broader participation and strengthens inclusive education opportunities across the country.

To qualify, applicants must meet specific academic and financial criteria. Students are required to have achieved at least 60 percent marks or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their most recent exams from institutions recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Additionally, a parent or spouse must be a registered OPF member with a monthly income not exceeding Rs200,000.

The program also prioritizes fairness by excluding candidates who are already receiving other forms of financial aid during the same academic year.In a compassionate move, the initiative includes special provisions for children of deceased OPF members, particularly those who lost a parent within the last three years. This reflects a strong focus on supporting vulnerable families while promoting educational equity.

Applications are being accepted through the OPF website and regional offices, with a deadline set for April 30, 2026. Education experts have welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to strengthen the global education network and create meaningful opportunities for students connected to overseas communities.

By investing in the academic growth of expatriate families, the OPF scholarship program is not only easing financial barriers but also contributing to the development of a skilled and educated generation, reinforcing the importance of education as a driver of national progress.
