Over 1,000 government positions, including roles in the police and military, were offered during a Civil Service Commission (CSC) job fair held on Tuesday at SM City Baguio. The event was organized as part of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
Several government agencies participated, including the city government of Baguio, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Department of Public Works and Highways, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Lawyer Kathy Olano, Public Assistance and Liaison Division Chief of the CSC in the Cordillera Administrative Region, emphasized the qualities expected of public servants. “It is expected that public workers do not just perform their work with efficiency but also with honesty and dedication”, Olano said in an interview.
Apart from job openings, several government services were made available at the event. Agencies such as the Pag-IBIG Fund, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Statistics Authority provided assistance to attendees.
Princess Marielle Idanan, a licensed teacher, said that recent controversies involving government employees and projects did not discourage her from applying for a public sector job. “This is us, the youth, we need to step up. We need to start good governance,” she said.

Currently employed in a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, Idanan expressed excitement about the opportunity to work in government, noting that many of her family members are also in the public sector. “I know it is not easy, because we are actually serving the people, but I am thrilled. I commend those people working in government,” she added.
The CSC job fair provided an opportunity for job seekers to explore careers in government and engage with public service agencies while celebrating the country’s long-standing civil service tradition.
