Anchors Academy Expands, Launches Junior and Senior School with UK

    • Anchors Academy expands to Junior Secondary (Years 7-9), launching in September 2026 to create a seamless K-12 pathway for students aged 2-18.
    • Curriculum blends Hong Kong and UK National Curriculum, emphasizing STEAM education, interdisciplinary learning, and future-ready skills.
    • Partnership with St Bees School UK establishes St Bees (Anchors) Sixth Form College, offering IGCSE/A-levels and HKDSE, with pathways to top global universities.

Anchors Academy, one of Hong Kong’s leading private schools, is taking a bold step forward in its educational journey by extending its offerings to include Junior Secondary for Years 7 to 9, with plans to welcome its first cohort in September 2026, pending Education Bureau registration and approval. This expansion completes the school’s vision of a seamless K-12 pathway, allowing students aged 2 to 18 to progress from kindergarten through to secondary graduation within a single, cohesive learning environment.

The Junior Secondary curriculum is designed to build on the school’s strong primary foundation, blending the Hong Kong curriculum with the UK National Curriculum (Key Stage 3) and emphasizing innovative teaching approaches. Anchors Academy is incorporating STEAM education and future-ready skills to ensure students develop a mastery of interdisciplinary learning while preparing them for the challenges of the modern world. “The launch of our Junior Secondary division is a critical step in realizing our vision to be a true through-train school. It allows us to nurture students in a consistent, innovative learning community from their earliest years all the way to university preparation”, said Carmen Choi, Executive Director and School Manager of Anchors International Education Group and Anchors Academy.

To support this new stage, Anchors Academy is transforming its Yuen Long campus with dedicated facilities for science laboratories, ICT suites, and flexible learning spaces designed to foster collaboration and hands-on projects. The environment will reflect the school’s commitment to providing students with both academic rigor and a stimulating, future-focused learning experience.

In addition to the Junior Secondary expansion, Anchors Academy has partnered with the historic St Bees School in the UK, founded in 1583, to co-establish St Bees (Anchors) Sixth Form College in West Kowloon, Hong Kong. This partnership brings a rich heritage of academic excellence to senior secondary education, offering students pathways to some of the world’s top universities, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, King’s College London, and the University of Hong Kong, among others.

St Bees (Anchors) Sixth Form College will offer both international and local streams, giving students the choice between IGCSE and GCE A-levels or the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE). The curriculum emphasizes student-centered learning and flexible teaching methods, with sample lectures embedded to provide insight into university-level study, some of which will be delivered by professors from Cambridge and Oxford. All Year 9 graduates from Anchors Academy will automatically progress to St Bees (Anchors) Sixth Form College, ensuring continuity in their educational journey.

Danny Wang, Vice Chairman of St Bees School, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting, “We are delighted to partner with Anchors Academy to bring a St Bees-inspired education to Hong Kong. Our shared commitment to academic rigor, character development, and innovative teaching makes this a natural alliance.”

Together, Anchors Academy and St Bees (Anchors) Sixth Form College are creating a comprehensive, forward-looking educational pathway in Hong Kong, combining a nurturing and innovative learning environment with proven international excellence. With these developments, the school aims to prepare students not only for academic success but for meaningful contributions in a rapidly evolving global society.
