Synopsis
Assam University has partnered with Thailand’s Surindra Rajabhat University to expand research collaboration, student mobility, and faculty exchange programs. The agreement is expected to create new learning opportunities, strengthen global exposure, and enhance skills in emerging technologies.
In a move aimed at strengthening international education and research collaboration, Assam University, Silchar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand’s Surindra Rajabhat University. The partnership will focus on joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, and academic cooperation across multiple disciplines.
The agreement was signed during an international conference on artificial intelligence and digital technology hosted by the Thai university. The event brought together researchers, academics, policymakers, and experts from 18 universities representing different countries.
The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for students and educators by encouraging knowledge sharing, cross-border learning, and exposure to global academic practices. University officials believe the partnership will help students develop skills that are increasingly important in a technology-driven world.
Assam University was represented by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant and Deepjyoti Choudhury, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration. During the conference, Prof. Pant addressed a plenary session focused on the role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in crisis management and border security. He discussed how modern technologies can help governments and agencies respond more effectively to emergencies and security challenges.
Pant highlighted issues such as geographic isolation, migration-related risks, cross-border crimes, administrative challenges, and digital security concerns. He explained how AI-powered predictive analytics and digital surveillance tools are becoming important resources for improving crisis response and strengthening border management.
Drawing examples from the India-Bangladesh border, the Thailand-Myanmar border, and European border systems, he emphasized the growing importance of technology in addressing complex security and governance challenges. In a separate technical session, Deepjyoti Choudhury explored the impact of technology on modern crisis and conflict management. He discussed emerging risks such as cybercrime, data breaches, misinformation campaigns, AI-generated misleading content, and technology-driven global conflicts.
Choudhury stressed the need for stronger cybersecurity awareness, responsible use of emerging technologies, and greater international cooperation to address digital threats. He also highlighted the importance of preparing students and professionals with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital environment.
University officials said the newly signed agreement will support a range of academic initiatives, including collaborative research programs, international seminars, faculty visits, and student mobility opportunities. These activities are expected to enhance learning experiences and help participants gain practical exposure to global education systems.
