Azerbaijan Showcases Higher-Ed Vision At QS Summit

    • Azerbaijani delegation participates in QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2025 in Seoul from November 4-6
    • Officials from the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and major Azerbaijani universities represent the country
    • Participation aims to strengthen global partnerships, align with Asia Pacific trends, and enhance institutional research capacity

An Azerbaijani delegation is participating in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2025 that started in Seoul on 4-6 November. The delegation includes officials of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, as well as representatives of Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University, and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.

The Summit, hosted at Korea University in Seoul, is the region's most important forum for innovation and collaboration in higher education. Under the theme 'Advancing Generational Potential: Skills and Partnerships in the Asia Pacific', it brings together leading university administrators, policymakers, and industry figures to examine how higher education institutions can cultivate the skills, research capacity, and partnerships needed to empower successive generations.

During the opening sessions, keynote speakers underscored how higher education needed to respond to profound shifts brought about by technology, global student mobility, and evolving workforce demands. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged universities to nurture global citizens who can collaborate across borders, disciplines, and generations.

Participation in this Summit will therefore provide a fruitful opportunity for Azerbaijan's higher education sector to engage with regional and global peers, share best practices, and pursue partnerships that can raise the international standing and research capacity of its institutions.

The presence of representatives both at the national agency and major universities marks a strategic commitment towards alignment with emerging trends in Asia Pacific higher education and strengthening linkages at the institutional level.

With the region still growing as an international student and innovation hub in higher education, Azerbaijan's participation comes at a very relevant period. The Summit highlights issues ranging from AI-infused teaching and learning, to inclusive institutional design, underlining university responses through agile partnerships and skills-oriented programs.

Active participation by Azerbaijan's representatives in the workshops, networking sessions, and thematic discussions throughout the Summit places them in a strategic position to gather insights that could help inform national higher-education strategy, institutional internationalization, and capacity-building efforts, not only to advance generational potential but also to forge ties within the broader Asia Pacific higher education ecosystem.
