British University Vietnam Achieves Elite Partner Status with University of London

  • In a major milestone for the educational sector in Vietnam, the British University Vietnam (BUV) has been formally recognized as a strategic international partner by the University of London (UoL). This status was reaffirmed during a visit by UoL Vice Chancellor Prof. Wendy Thomson, with distinguished delegates, highlighting the pledge to develop excellence in education.

    Strengthening Collaborative Ties

Prof. Thomson emphasized that this recognition represents a significant turning point in cooperation between the two institutions, from program-based activities to a wider and more sustainable partnership. "Our priority will be building new programs and expanding educational opportunities", she says, emphasizing the objectives to deepen the educational connections between the U.K. and Vietnam.

Prof. Raymond Gordon, BUV's President and Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the accreditation as an endorsement of the university's scholarship and its desire to become a top international university in Vietnam and the region. "We are dedicated to the delivery of high-quality British education to our students", he stated.

Official Agreement Signed In the Presence of Dignitaries

The visit was capped with the signing of a cooperation agreement, which was witnessed by H.E. Iain Frew, British Ambassador, and James Shipton, Director of the British Council. Ambassador Frew was upbeat, saying, "BUV's success is impressive. This collaboration cements BUV's position as a leader in providing British higher education standards in Vietnam".

    Investment in Campus Development

Consistent with its purpose of delivering a superior quality learning environment, BUV has just opened Phase 2 of its ambitious $165-million Ecopark campus. The expansion will house 5,500 students and features world-class facilities suitable for both Vietnamese and international scholars. The newly opened Student Lounge is a specific academic area for UoL and BUV postgraduate students, promoting collaboration and an international learning environment.

    Commitment to Academic Excellence

During her visit, Prof. Thomson commended the facilities at BUV as 'exceptional' and 'world-class' She urged potential students to take advantage of the opportunity to study at BUV, citing the university's state-of-the-art infrastructure and learning opportunities.

Being the awarding authority of BUV's programmes, the University of London ensures that qualifications are developed and examined by experienced academics in the U.K., upholding a standard of academic excellence. The alliance provides the students in Vietnam and Southeast Asia with access to British degrees at an international level without having to study offshore.

Impact on the Retail and Education Sector

Being the sole provider of UoL's International Foundation Programme and standardized undergraduate programs in Vietnam, BUV's partnership not only improves the academic profile of BUV but also broadens educational prospects for the increasing number of students. With consumer culture leaning towards appreciating quality education, the provision of access to globally well-recognized degrees may have a big impact on the retail industry, empowering students with qualifications that make them more competitive in the labor market.
